Charity Blackwell
An award-winning spoken word artist, poet, and educator — moving rooms from The Kennedy Center to center court at the NBA.

Charity Blackwell is an award-winning spoken word artist, poet, and educator whose voice resonates far beyond the stage. Known for her commanding presence and magnetic storytelling, she crafts work that doesn’t just entertain — it stirs, it challenges, it heals.

A proud graduate of Trinity University, Charity holds both a B.A. and M.A. in Communications, along with an Executive Leadership Certificate in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion from Georgetown University — a foundation she uses to amplify not only her own voice but the voices of communities around her. From her earliest performances in college to standing ovations on international stages, she has carved out space in the spoken word world with authenticity and fire.

She has shared stages with cultural icons and changemakers like Wale, Magic Johnson, Jessica Betts, Big Freedia, Seimone Augustus, and Billie Jean King — her presence holding its own alongside legends. Offstage, she brings her talents into classrooms, conferences, and creative spaces, leading workshops for institutions such as the Smithsonian, the GSX Conference, and Major League Soccer.

From festival headliners to poetry slams, from national competitions to grassroots gatherings, Charity’s energy is unmistakable. Her hosting credits span from Poetry Out Loud Nationals to beloved community stages up and down the East Coast, where her clarity and charisma make every room feel electric.

She is a collaborator, a connector, and a cultural force — uplifting untold stories and using the art of words to create space for transformation. Charity Blackwell’s voice is more than performance. It’s a catalyst.
